Edward Verigo

Eduard Verigo (Emanuel Markovich Verigo), also uses a second pseudonym: E. Polessky, - playwright, screenwriter, poet, composer, journalist.

Laureate, diploma winner of competitions and festivals of international, all-Union, all-Russian and regional statuses.

Born on June 15, 1936 in the city of Novograd-Volynsky, Zhytomyr region, in the family of a doctor.

In 1960, he graduated from the Ryazan Radio Engineering Institute, and in 1966, the post-graduate student of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and ... in the same year, his play "Trace in the Trail" was staged at the Tula Theater for Young Spectators

From that moment, Eduard Verigo completely focused on professional work in five areas: theater drama, film scripts, television and radio plays and theatrical performances; poetry, theater and song music, journalism.

Theatrical Drama

Eduard Verigo is the author of more than 40 dramatic works (plays, libretto, dramatization, etc.), of which 30 were staged at professional theaters of the USSR and the Russian Federation, including:

  • “I turn to actions” (in the Sverdlovsk (now academic) drama theater in 1973, then in the Lviv Russian theater of the Soviet Army in 1979);
  • “Malachite Box” (based on the tales of P. Bazhov, at the Sverdlovsk Drama Theater, in 1978);
  • “History in Epidamna” (in poetry, according to the plot of T. M. Plavt, in the Pskov Drama Theater named after A. S. Pushkin, in 1980, then in the theater “Yekaterinburg Cabaret” under the name “Ancient Greek anecdote”, in 1990)
  • “The Queen and the Bicycle” (in the Sverdlovsk Academic Theater of Musical Comedy, in 1984, music by S. Sirotin; also in the Nizhny Tagil Drama Theater named after D.N. Mamin-Sibiryak);
  • “The Capture Group” (co-authored with A. Osokin, at the Yaroslavl Academic Drama Theater named after Fedor Volkov, 1986; the play was also released as a separate publication in the VAAP) ;.
  • “In love and hate” (in the Krasnodar Academic Drama Theater named after Maxim Gorky, in 1986);
  • “Conspiracy” (in verse, co-authored with V. Kurochkin, at the State Music Theater of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, in 1987, music by G. Korepanov-Kamsky);
  • “The Road to May” (at the Sverdlovsk Academic Theater of Musical Comedy, in 1995):
  • “Spring Water” (in verse, in collaboration with V. Kurochkin, based on the novel by I. Turgenev, in the Omsk Musical Theater, in 1996, music by E. Ptichkin);
  • "Catherine the Second, Grenadier and Siberian Shaman" (burlesque vaudeville at the Lysven Drama Theater named after A. Savin, in 1992, then at the Kamensk-Ural Drama Theater, then at the Tobolsk Drama Theater named after P, P. Ershov ( 2005) and in the Irbit Drama Theater named after A.N. Ostrovsky (2011);
  • “From Wing to Inspiration” (in verse, co-production of the Yekaterinburg Music and Drama Theater for the Disabled “TWIN” and the theater of musical and choreographic miniatures “Little Ballet”, 2003.);
  • “The Magic Sword of the Blacksmith Yeremey” (a fairy tale in verse, at the Voronezh (now academic) drama theater named after A. V. Koltsov, in 1972 the play was then staged at the drama theaters of Kamensk-Uralsky, Dzerzhinsk and Tobolsk ;.

Poetry

Eduard Verigo is the author of six poetry books: “Con anima”, “Autumn peak”, “On the verge of hope”, “Alphabet of chiaroscuro”, “Gallery”, “City of Peter. Faces and reflections ”, as well as a children's book with the poem series“ About Uzh and about Hedgehog and other animals ringing ”and the fairy tale“ Dream as a gift ”.

In the sixties he began to work actively in the genre of song lyrics.

The song “Fighters” (music by V. Makhlyankin) brought Eduard Verigo the title of Laureate of the All-Union Competition for the best song dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Victory.

Eduard Verigo also wrote:

  • Lyrics of the vocal cycle “Bagatelles”, composer L. Ettinger (first performed by the Moscow chapel of boys on 04/04/1969);
  • libretto of a dramatic oratorio for mezzo-soprano, tenor, baritone, reader, mixed choir and the symphony orchestra “Seven White Cranes”, music by K. Katzman, 1982; first performance on the stage of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic.

Music

In 1982, Eduard Verigo became the laureate of the All-Russian Theater Festival "The Image of a Modern Worker in Drama and Theater" for creating the text of songs and music for the performance of the Nizhny Tagil Drama Theater named after D. N. Mamina-Sibiryaka "Petrovich" O. Danilova ".

Then E. Verigo was awarded the diploma of the All-Russian Theater Festival "Heroic Development of Siberia and the Far East" "for creating music for the play" Amur Father "by N. Zadornov at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Drama Theater."

Eduard Verigo wrote the music of several hundreds of songs played on radio, television and in professional concert programs.

Eduard Verigo also composed music for eighty-odd performances of the drama theaters of Moscow, Astrakhan, Ashgabat, Belgorod, Velikiye Luki, Voronezh, Dzerzhinsk, Yekaterinburg, Kirov, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Kostroma, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Lvov, , Ryazan, Tobolsk, Tula, Chita and the Ural cities: Irbit, Lysva, Kamensk-Uralsky and Nizhny Tagil; as well as the performances of Ryazan, Tula and Voronezh Youth Theater.

He wrote and repeatedly performed several cycles of songs in poster author’s concerts, including: “Applause” (zongs), “Blue Dragonflies” (romance), “Hussars of December (about the Decembrists)”, “Three Rivers” (mono-composition in genre of tragifars), "Sorry, Madame!" (humor);

Journalism

E. Verigo was admitted to the Union of Journalists of the USSR in September 1963.

As a permanent author and correspondent for the Yunost radio station, as part of its visiting editorial office, he was in the Far East, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.

He worked as an editor of literary and dramatic programs on Chita television, and as editor-in-chief of the directorate of the Siberian Tract interregional program.

Author of publications in the magazines Communist, Young Guard, Theater, Theater Life, Culture of the Urals, Youth Variety, in central and regional periodicals, including Soviet Culture, and Book Review, the weekly Literary Russia.
