Description

Small bees (body length about 6 mm) with pubescence of light hairs (body black, tergites brown in front, translucent orange in back, dark brown scapus). The following characters differ from similar species: the area between the eye and the ocelium is shiny, almost without punctures, tergites are mainly orange; pubescence of the scutum short; the forehead is smooth, brown-orange, the osprey is white; inner spur of hind tibia comb; rounded basitibial plate. Wings with 2 submarginal cells, convex clypeus (as well as the supraclipical region), antennae short, short to middle ocellium, long jugal wing of hind wing, i.e. extending well below cu-v level. Found on the flowers of Calotis multicaulis ( Asteraceae ), Podolepis canescens (Asteraceae). Nest in sandy and clay soil. Included in the subgenus Colletellus Michener, 1965 (subfamily Neopasiphaeinae). The species was first described in 2018 by the Australian entomologist Remko Leijs (South Australian Museum, Adelaide , Australia ) [1] [2] .
