The authors of the monument are sculptor Galina Kalchenko and architect Anatoly Ignashchenko .

It is located in the center of the Ukrainian capital, in the Pechersky district of Kiev on the Lesya Ukrainka square between the building of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine and the residential high-rise.

History

Solemnly opened on September 3, 1973.

The Kiev monument of L. Ukrainka is a bronze figure of a writer 5 meters high, mounted on a pedestal of black labradorite . According to the author of the sculpture G. Kalchenko, Lesya Ukrainka is depicted as a strong-willed, not obeying the circumstances of fate, strong spirit and at the same time tender and feminine.

The total height of the monument is 10 meters. On a pedestal are inscribed the words from the poet's poem

 

As I die, in the sun
Leaving the carriage of my penis
I streaming plomin zasіya
Night of burning, hot day

 

Around the monument there is a square with fountains and benches for relaxation. By resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 03.09.2009 No. 928 it has the status of a monument of monumental art, security number 260030-N.
