Nikiforov, Arnold Fedorovich

Arnold Fedorovich Nikiforov (11/18/1930, Leningrad - 12/27/2005, Moscow) - Russian mathematician and physicist (mathematical and quantum physics), Lenin Prize laureate (1962).

He graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov (1955), worked for some time in Arzamas-16 .

Since 1956 - in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Steklov Steklov Institute of Mathematics and Mathematics, later transformed into the MV Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the USSR Academy of Sciences . Last position - Chief Researcher, Head. Department of Computational Physics, IPM.

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1966), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1975). Both dissertations are related to “closed” topics. Academic title - Professor (1979).

In combination from 1969 to 2005, he taught at the Moscow State University at the Faculty of Physics and the Faculty of VMK: Associate Professor, Professor at the Department of Computational Mathematics, then at the Department of Mathematical Physics (1977-2000). He gave lectures: “Methods of mathematical physics”, “Special functions of mathematical physics”, “Differential and difference equations of hypergeometric type”, “Quantum-statistical models of self-consistent field”.

Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1962, together with V. B. Uvarov ). Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2002).

He died on December 27, 2005 after a serious illness.
