Biography

Born in near Motherwell . He began his professional career at the Scottish club Hamilton Academic in 1908. In October 1910 he moved to the English club " Bradford Park Avenue ", playing in the Second Division of the Football League [1] . In the 1913/14 season, he helped his team enter the First Division . In 1915, official tournaments in England were suspended in connection with the First World War .

During the war, Scott served in the British Army and was awarded the Military Medal [2] [3] .

After resuming the competition in 1919, Scott continued to play for Bradford Park Avenue. In total, he spent 266 matches for the club and scored 3 goals.

In June 1921 he moved to Manchester United for 750 pounds [2] [1] . He made his debut for the club on August 27, 1921 in the First Division match against Everton at Goodison Park , in which United was defeated 5-0 [4] . In total, in the 1921/22 season he played 24 matches for Manchester United (23 in the league and 1 in the FA Cup ) [5] . At the beginning of the season he played in the position of left midfielder, after which he spent five matches in the position of defender [1] . His last game for United's main squad was the FA Cup match against Cardiff City on January 7, 1922 [6] . In the rest of the season, Scott played for the club’s reserve team [1] . At the end of the 1921/22 season, United left the top division, and Scott left Manchester United.

In June 1922 he returned to Scotland, becoming a player in the St. Mirren club [2] , for which he spent one season.
