Micro ... (from other Greek. Μικρός [micros] - small ) - the initial part of complex words ("prepositive unit [1] / morpheme", prefixoid ), giving the word a sense of small size ( microscope ), small value ( microcontrol ), limited neighborhood ( microclimate ), the study of objects in the small ( microsociology ).
The prefix “micro” is included in the diminutive row [1] “mini”> “micro”> “nano”> “pico”> “femto”, where the designation of further miniaturization is usually done by replacing the prefix (“minicomputer”> “ microcomputer ”), although there are also constructions of the type“ microminiaturization ”, which appeared in the 1950s in the USA, where the prefix“ micro- ”initially played a hyperbolic role [2] .
