The parliamentary elections in El Salvador took place on March 12, 1972 [1] . As a result, the National Coalition Party won a majority of 39 of the 52 seats of the Legislative Assembly. However, the election was accompanied by numerous irregularities. The CEC disqualified candidates from the National Opposition Union, the Alliance of the Christian Democratic Party , the National Revolutionary Movement, and the Nationalist Democratic Union in 5 out of 14 districts [2] . The turnout was 56.7% [2] .
