Biography

Franz Hot was born on October 14, 1910 in Shtetin. He received a trading education, worked in a brokerage firm in Brunsbüttel . He also founded the local branch of the Nazi Party [1] . In 1931 he joined the Nazi Party (party ticket number 797 864) and assault troops (SA). In April 1933 he moved from SA to SS (№ 97 563). In August 1933, he lost his job, but later began to earn extra money at a fish cannery in Kiel . In May 1934 he entered the service in the main department of the SD . From April 1938 he headed Abshenny SD, which was part of the SS Danube [2] .

World War II

After the start of the war, he led the SD team at the headquarters of the Einsatzgroup 1 , in Poland . From March 1940, he was the head of the Abshenita SD in Bremen [3] . After completing the course of the officer school in Charlottenburg and the Italian police school in Tivoli , from July 1942 he served in the Einsatz team of Tunisia, led by Walter Rauff , where he was engaged in intelligence services [4] . In November 1943 he was transferred to France , where he became commander of the security police and SD in Nancy [3] . Then Hot led one of the teams assigned to the Einsatzgroup H in Slovakia , and during the Ardennes offensive led a special team that was part of the Einsatzgroup L. From April 1945, after the end of the war, he served as commander of the security police and SD in Stavanger [5] .

After the war

After the end of the war he was arrested by the British and questioned several times. Then he was transferred to France, where he appeared before the court in Metz . On February 19, 1949, a French court sentenced him to death for war crimes committed in Nancy [6] . The sentence was carried out on July 28, 1949.
