Biography

Tokranov A.M. Born December 4, 1950 in Termez, Surkhan-Darya region of the Uzbek SSR in the family of a military serviceman of the border troops.

Education

In 1975 he graduated from the Department of Ichthyology and Hydrobiology of the Biological and Soil Faculty of Leningrad State University named after A.A. Zhdanova (now St. Petersburg State University) with a degree in Biology.

In 1985 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of biological sciences on the topic "Biology of mass species of slingshot (Cottidae family) of the Kamchatka waters". In 1988, she was awarded the title of Senior Researcher.

In 2009 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Features of the biology of bottom and bottom fish of various families in the Kamchatka waters."

He is a member of many marine expeditions conducted on research and fishing vessels in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, the Pacific waters of Kamchatka and the Northern Kuril Islands. His research interests include the composition of the ichthyofauna of the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, the functional structure of ichthyocenes, and the biology of fish. Repeatedly participated in environmental assessments of various programs and projects in the Kamchatka Territory.

Scientific and popular science works

Author and co-author of more than 300 scientific publications on various problems of fish biology, protection and rational use of biological resources of the Kamchatka waters. In 2006, the first volume of the Kamchatka Red Book, Animals, was published under his editorship.

In addition, A.M. Tokranov is actively engaged in the popularization of biological knowledge. He published about 400 popular science publications in magazines, newspapers, published popular science books: "On the" Scalyless Beast "and Other Inhabitants of Kamchatka Waters" (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, 2004) and "Named By Their Names" (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, 2008 )
