Placed in honor of Alexander Zinovievich Astrakhan , an outstanding figure in the coal industry and mining, the head of the state holding Spetshakhtoburenie, and the deputy minister of the coal industry.
The monument is a bust of Alexander Zinovievich Astrakhan on a pedestal. It is located next to the building of the state holding Spetshakhtobureniye , where Alexander Zinovievich worked.
On the pedestal of the monument is an inscription in Ukrainian:

The pedestal is made of granite . The bust is made of an alloy imitating bronze .
The author of the monument is the sculptor Alexander Mitrofanovich Skorykh .
The monument was erected on the initiative of the state holding Spetshakhtoburenie, with the support of the Ministry of Coal Industry of Ukraine, the Donetsk City Administration and the Donetsk Region Administration.
The opening of the monument took place on August 21, 2007 . The opening was attended by the mayor of Donetsk Alexander Alekseevich Lukyanchenko , Minister of Coal Industry of Ukraine Sergey Tulub .
