Konovalyuk, Alexander Vladimirovich

Aleksandr Vladimir Konovalyuk (born May 1, 1978 , Novaya Kakhovka ) is a Ukrainian rower , helmsman, who played for the Ukrainian rowing team in the period 2007-2017. Silver and double bronze medalist of the European Championships, member of the Ukrainian eight at the Summer Olympic Games in London .

Biography

Alexander Konovalyuk was born on May 1, 1978 in the city of New Kakhovka, Kherson region of the Ukrainian SSR .

He began to engage in rowing in 1992, three years later he became a member of the Ukrainian national team and spoke at the Junior World Championships in Poznan, where he took sixth place in the classification of eights.

Since 2007, he acted as a helmsman at an adult level, in particular this season he noted his performances at the World Championships in Munich and the European Championships in Poznan .

In 2008, he participated in the European Championship in Athens .

In 2009, he started at the World Championships in Poznan and at the European Championships in Brest , where he won a silver medal in eights, losing only to the Polish crew in the finals.

At the 2010 European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, he won the bronze medal in the eights, skipping ahead teams from Germany and Poland. At the same time, at the world championship in Karapiro he could not get into the number of winners, limiting himself to the final B.

In 2011, in the same discipline, he received bronze at the European Championships in Plovdiv , and started at the World Championships in Bled .

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London - as part of the team, which also included rowers Anton Kholyaznikov , Victor Grebennikov , Ivan Timko , Artyom Moroz , Andrei Priveda , Valentin Kletskaya , Oleg Lykov and Sergey Chikanov , selected in the eights in the consolation final B and located in the final protocol of the competition on the eighth line.

After the London Olympics, Konovalyuk remained in the main team of the Ukrainian national team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, he participated in the European Championships 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, and in 2016 and 2017 he also performed at the World Championships, although he did not rise to the podium at any of these competitions and did not make it to the main finals.
