Biography
Tsyren Galanov was born in the ulus of Ushkhayt of the Kizhinginsky district of the Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in a family of a forester.
He began to compose poetry in his school years. His first poem was published in the collection “Young Voices” when he was 14 years old. In 1953, Tsyren Galanov entered the Literary Institute. Gorky , who graduated in 1958.
Upon returning to his homeland, he worked as a literary editor of the Buryat Radio and Television (1958-1974), a literary consultant to the Union of Writers of Buryatia (1974-1995), and deputy editor-in-chief of the Baikal magazine (1995-2001).
Creativity
Galanov’s first book was the storybook “Son of the Father,” which was published in 1957. In 1960, the second collection of short stories, The Road, was published.
Then his stories Reggae, Eternal Spring, Dulmadai, Master of the Taiga, Severomuisk Legend, and Lingonberry Ripening Time were published. In total, Tsyren Galanov published 16 books, including the novel Mother Swan (1975).
Of these books, they were published in Russian: “First Snow”, “Memory of the Heart” in Moscow, “Son of the Father”, “Time for Lingonberry Ripening” in Ulan-Ude.
Tsyren Galanov also wrote several dramatic works. At the Buryat State Academic Drama Theater. Performances based on his plays “Zhargal” (Happiness) (1966-1967), “Namaray Gurban Uder” (Three Autumn Days) (1968-1969) were staged by Khots Namsaraev . The writer’s pen belongs to the play Geserei Halme (Sword of Gesar).
