Maria Manuela Oreiro Lema ( Spanish: Manuela Oreiro Lema de Vega ; November 9, 1818 , Madrid - May 6, 1854 ) - Spanish opera singer ( soprano ). The wife (from 1838) of the playwright Ventura de la Vega , the mother of the playwright Ricardo de la Vega .

The daughter of the minter of the Royal Mint. Remained an orphan at the age of four. She studied since 1830 at the Madrid Conservatory with Balthazar Saldoni and Francesco Piermarini . Back in 1833, she sang in the conservative production of The Barber of Seville by Joacchino Rossini in the presence of King Ferdinand VII and Queen Maria Cristina . In 1836 she signed a contract with the royal theaters and made her debut in Norma Bellini 's opera Vincenzo Bellini .
For two seasons she sang with great success in various parts of the Italian repertoire, but after the wedding on April 1, 1838, she left the stage. In November 1841, however, she resumed her stage career, performing mainly with the first tenor of the Madrid opera stage, Giovanni Battista Rubini . Among the most important parties of this period is the title part in Gaetano Donizetti 's opera Lucia di Lammermoor .
