History

The railway hospital complex was built in 1912-1914. In the years 1914-1917. the main building housed a military hospital. From 1918 to 1922 the evacuation center of the military department was located in it. The hospital began to act like a railway since 1922. Initially, there were 52 places (20 in the therapeutic, 20 in the surgical, 12 in the infectious ward). By 1941, the number of seats was brought to 155. In 1965-1970. a new hospital building was built on Korzhenevskogo street, the old one acted as a branch [1] . Currently, the hospice at the city hospital No. 11 (the modern name of the former railway hospital) is located in the main building of the historical complex. Service buildings are partially abandoned.

Architecture

The main building is two-story, in the plan it has the shape of the letter E. In the decoration of the facades, a contrast of red brick and white stucco details (cornices, pediments, pilasters, sandriks) is noticeable. On the main facade, a central and two lateral risalits stand out, ending with triangular gables. The facade is decorated with wide pilasters and twin blades. The windows of the lower floor are rectangular, and the upper - semicircular. The building has a corridor layout. For better coverage, the operating rooms of the 1st and 2nd floors are placed in separate pentahedral volumes [1] .

Hospital water tower

Auxiliary buildings are laconic, have 1-2 floors. The water tower has three tiers and an octagonal shape. The first tier is low, a wide second tier is decorated with arched niches, the walls of the third tier are deaf. Niches, pilasters, and ornamental belts are used in the decor. Separate details are stylized in the form of medieval towers, for example mashikuli and windows-loopholes [1] .
