History
The first brand “Happy New Year!” Was issued in Russia on December 2, 1992. New Year's stamps are issued almost annually in the outgoing year with the designation of the numbers of the coming year on the stamp. Released in December 2009 according to a drawing by the artist O. Luchnikova, the New Year's stamp was printed on coated coated self-adhesive paper for the first time in an unusual form of snowflakes . An unusual shape (two rounded corners) is also characteristic of the brand, issued on December 1, 2010. A drawing of the stamp by artist A. Gribkova depicts Santa Claus against the background of patterns and the Russian flag , which holds a congratulatory envelope in his hand with a worn mitten [2] .

The Romans, in honor of the god of agriculture, decorated houses with green leaves on the winter holiday of Saturnalia. In many countries, including Russia, he was considered one of the main family holidays. Everywhere lights were burning that symbolized the hearth.
