Governors Village is a district of Chapel Hill , North Carolina , USA . Built in accordance with the concept of New Urbanism . Consists of four residential quarters (Governors Village, Governors Park, Governors Forest, Governors Lake), 160 townhouses (Governors Village and Governors Lake Towns), 242 dwellings (Camden Governors Village and several commercial buildings) . The area is over 450 acres [1] .

Description
Business District
The first shopping center in the area opened in 2000. Soon after, a branch of RBC Bank (now PNC Financial Services ) was opened at the main entrance to Governors Village. In 2005, a second shopping center with several restaurants, a veterinary clinic and a dental office was opened in the district. Subsequently, the business quarter continued its expansion.
Recreation
The area has several parks and hiking trails, as well as a small lake. There is also a sports pool, tennis court, as well as basketball and volleyball courts [2] . In addition, the area is just a few miles from Lake Jordan, a popular holiday destination [3] .
Recognition
For active social and volunteer activities of the residents of the area, in 2009 Governors Village was named "Community of the Year" according to the Institute of Public Associations of North Carolina [4] .
