The new political center - Girchi ( cargo. გირჩი , with cargo. - "Bump") is an opposition political party in Georgia . The party was founded in April 2016 by former members of the Unified National Movement , which split in May 2015. Girchi is led by Zurab Japaridze , a former member of the Georgian parliament .

The party adheres to a libertarian orientation: it advocates the legalization of drugs , the abolition of universal military service and the transition to a contract army, the rejection of state benefits and subsidies, minimal state intervention in the economy, and so on. Girchi advocates Georgia’s integration into NATO and the EU and adheres to pronounced anti-Russian views.
In July 2018, the Georgian Constitutional Court upheld the lawsuit of the Girchi leaders Zurab Japaridze and Vakhtang Megrelishvili against the Georgian parliament and abolished the administrative penalty for consuming marijuana - a fine of 500 lari (more than $ 188). [one]
In the 2018 presidential election , party candidate Zurab Japaridze received 2.26% of the vote in the first round and took sixth place [2] .
