History
Zybitskaya Street was formed in the second half of the 16th — 17th centuries. It ran parallel to the bank of the Svisloch and connected the Lower Market with Volotskaya Street (now part of the International), crossing the Bernardine streets (modern Kirill and Methodius Street and Herzen Street). The name "Zybitskaya" originated due to marshy, unsteady soil [1] . In 1866, the street was renamed Bolotnaya, in 1882 - to Torgovaya [2] . In 2010, the original name Zybitskaya was returned.
In the XVII — XVIIІ centuries. the street building was wooden. On its corner with the Lower Market in 1700, the Bonifratra Monastery was founded. At the corner with Bernardine Street was the Bernardine Monastery founded in 1633, which opened wooden household buildings to Zybitskaya Street. The territory of the Bernardine monastery , located between two Bernardine streets, fenced from the street by a high stone wall, also went to the street. The rest of the buildings were private houses of citizens. At the turn of the XVIII — XIX centuries, at the intersection of Zybitsky and Volotskaya streets there appeared a small landscape park of the Drutskys-Lyubetsky estate, later Vankovichi. Stone houses on the street began to be built from the middle of the XIX century [1] . In the XIX century it was built up with one-, two-story houses with gardens and toilets. The street was occupied with shops, shops, hairdressers. Their owners lived on the upper floors of the buildings. Hence the name of the street - Torgovaya [3] .
The historical building of the street, especially on the even side, was lost by the 1960s. At the site of the street was a wasteland. In the 2010s, a new model building appeared with elements of historical architecture. A number of bars are located on the street, it has become considered "rave" [2] .
