Biography
Little is known about the life of Saint Exupéry (French: Exupère, Latin: Exuperius), or Spira (French: Spire, Soupir, Soupierre; Latin: Spirius). According to legend, he was born in Rome in a rich and noble family and was sent to preach in Bessen by Pope Clement I in the 1st century [1] . However, most likely, these legends are unreliable and the activities of Exupery should date from the second half of the 4th century [2] .
It is believed that he fought with idolaters who worshiped in the forest that covers Mount Phaunus, west of Bayeux [1] . Among the miracles attributed to Saint Exupery, the deliverance from the evil seven demons is called prayer, which led to numerous conversions to Christianity, including the fact that his future successor Regnobert from Bayeux became a Christian [3] . Saint Exupery, according to legend, had the glory of a miraculous healer in Bessen, which attracted many people to his chapel. He again saved the locals from the seven demons of evil, which led to a new wave of conversions, including St. Zeno of Bayeux , whom he made archdeacon .
During the Viking invasion, the relics of the saint were transferred from Bayeux to Corbeil-Eson , where a cathedral was consecrated in honor of the saint [4] . In this regard, St. Spyr is sometimes called the bishop of Corbei, otherwise Corbolium.
Like Saint Dispar, or Ispar, Saint Exupery is revered in Brittany , in particular, in Dino and in San Tua , Finister .
