Biography
The son of a journalist. Since 1935 he lived in Vladivostok . In 1937, his parents were repressed and V. Ocheretin worked at various jobs in Vladivostok , Irkutsk , Kizel , Sverdlovsk , was a painter, loader, draftsman, reporter, artist of the puppet theater.
Since 1939 he worked at the rolling mill of the Verkh-Isetsk plant . Member of World War II. In 1943, he volunteered for the front as part of the Ural Volunteer Tank Corps . An assault rifle of a tank landing went from Orel to Berlin and Prague . He was wounded three times.

After the war he entered the journalism department of the historical and philological faculty of the Ural State University , which he graduated in 1948, and in 1956 - the Higher Literary Courses of the USSR SP .
He collaborated with the newspaper Uralsky Rabochiy , was a member of the editorial board of the large edition of the Uralelectrotyazhmash plant, and a correspondent for Literaturnaya Gazeta .
In 1958-1961, he was the chief editor of the Ural Pathfinder magazine, and from 1968 to 1980, the Ural magazine .
Creativity
As a prose writer made his debut in 1950 with the story “I am yours, Motherland!” About the courage of the Urals in battles with the Nazis. The novels "Salamander", "Siren" and others are devoted to the everyday life of workers in the Urals.
The works of V. Ocheretin are characterized by publicity, topicality. Repeatedly appeared in journalistic articles and essays in the magazines Ural , October , Ogonyok , Journalist , Literary Studies , Russian Speech and others.
Seven times he was elected as a deputy of the Sverdlovsk Regional Council, he headed the commission of culture. He was a member of the revision committee of the USSR Writers Union , a member of the board of the Sverdlovsk Regional Writing Organization, the editorial board of the journal Oktyabr , a member of the jury of the All-Union Competition of the USSR Writers Union and the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions for the best book on the working class.
The writer's books have been translated into Bulgarian, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Czech, Chinese and other languages.
