History

Mention of the date of formation of the village of Kalmatsky is in the book of Yu. S. Bulygin, “Education and Development of Settlements of Altai Territory”. The foundation date of the Kuryinsky district is 1924 (formed from part of the Kuryinsky and Talovskaya volosts [3] ), then the village of Kalmatsky appears [4] .

Its name, presumably, is a toponym formed from the nationality of the first settlers - Kalmyks (by analogy: the village of Kalmatsky capes, Pospelikhinsky district; [5] Kalmatsky Brod; [6] Kalmatsky road [7] , Kalmatsky stream, Kalmatskaya Kurya [8] .

The village is located on the left bank of Charysh in the northern part of the district.

Climate

The climate is continental, corresponds to the climatic zone of the Kuryinsky district. The average temperature in January is −19˚С, in July - + 20˚С. The annual amount of precipitation is 350-370 mm [10] .

Infrastructure

The main occupation in the field of economics is agriculture. There is a feldsher point; there are private entrepreneurs, a shop, and peasant and farm enterprises. [3]
