Biography
Kalashnikov did not play football professionally. At 27, he entered the coaching staff of the club "Metallurg" (Liepaja) . In 2012, he served as his mentor in four rounds. Later, he worked with the 1625 Liepaja club for several years, and also entered the coaching staffs of Jelgava and Jurmala Spartak . In August 2018, after the departure of the Russian Alexander Grishin, Kalashnikov for some time served as the head coach of the “red-white” [1] .
In January 2019, he headed the Estonian club Narva-Trans [2] . Under him, the team started well in the championship and reached the semifinal of the Estonian Cup . However, at the end of April, the specialist was forced to leave him because of disagreements with the leadership [3] . President of Narva-Trans Nikolai Burdakov was not happy that Kalashnikov was engaged only in the main team and at the same time was not involved in building the vertical of youth football [4] . In an interview, the Latvian coach suggested that his dismissal is connected with the club’s financial obligations. If “Narva-Trans”, according to the results of the first round, would have taken a place in the first four, then the salary of Kalashnikov would increase significantly. And after a good start, such a sporting prospect looked real [5] . In August of the same year, he became the head coach of another Estonian club Kuressaare [6] .
