Biography

Born in Norfolk . Since 1912 he worked as an intern at the Norwich Museum. During the First World War from 1914 to 1818 he served in the volunteer regiment . After demobilization, he returned to the museum, where he was a full-time employee until 1921. In 1921 he was appointed assistant curator at the National Museum of Singapore . In 1932 he became its director. He participated in expeditions to the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, the islands of the South China Sea, the Gulf of Thailand and the Strait of Malacca [3] .
