The 72nd BAFTA Award Ceremony for Merit in British and International Cinema for 2018 was held on February 10, 2019 at the Albert Hall in London . The leading ceremony for the second year in a row was actress Joanna Lumley [1] . Nominees were announced on January 9, 2019 [2] [3] .

The leader in the number of awards this year was the historical tape of Yorgos Lantimos “ Favorite ”, which won seven prizes from 12 nominations, including awards for the best British film, the main female role ( Olivia Coleman ), the female lead in a supporting role ( Rachel Weisz ) and the best original screenplay . The black and white Mexican drama Alfonso Cuarona " Roma ", presented at the ceremony in seven categories, was awarded four awards. Alfonso Cuaron personally nominated in six categories and took all 4 awards that went to the film: for the best non-English film, the best film of the year, was recognized as the best director and cameraman. The awards for the best male role were awarded to Rami Malek , who embodied the image of Freddie Mercury in the musical biopic “ Bohemian Rhapsody ”.
