It was first inhabited in the 1630s . However, already in 1644 it was ravaged during the Tatar raids.
During the construction of the defensive wall of the Belgorod line in the middle of the 17th century, the former place of the village, or Kulikova Polyana (hence the name; the glade, in turn, is patronymic ), turned out to be behind the shaft. Despite this, soon the service people went beyond the rampart and rebuilt the village in the same place and with the same name - Kulikovo .
In 1831-1832, the stone Ascension Church was built in Kulikovo [2] . In the XIX century, the village became known as the center of tobacco-growing in the Usman district (see also Oktyabrskoe and Krivka ).
1837–1923 - the center of the Kulikovo parish of the Usman district of the Tambov province.
In 1918, a food detachment led by Bolshevik Ya. I. Lutkov successfully operated in Kulikov and the surrounding villages. Later in the village they installed a monument to the prodotryadovtsy, on which they carved the words of Lenin (from the 36th volume of the complete works):
When I read the message that in the Usman district of the Tambov province a food detachment of requisitioned 6 thousand pounds of bread gives 3 thousand to the poorest peasantry, I say: even if they proved to me that until now there is only one such detachment in Russia, I still would say that the Soviet government is doing its job. For in no country is there such a detachment.
Heroes of the Soviet Union Anton Panarin and Mikhail Frolov were born in the village.
