The antennae of workers and females are 12-segmented. Scape of the neck does not reach. The mandibular palps are 2-segmented, the lower labial palps are composed of 2 segments (palp formula 2.2). The head is elongated. The eyes are relatively large for the genus; the ocellium is absent in the workers (the females have it). The mandibles are triangular; the frontal ridges are absent. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of one massive segment ( petiol ), the nodule of the petiol is thick. Nests in soil and rotten vegetation [1] . The species was first described in 1906 by the American worldmecologist William Wheeler based on materials from Japan [3] .
