Biography
Kozhamkulov Tolegen Abdisagievich was born on April 29, 1946 in the Zhambyl district of Almaty region.
In 1962 he graduated from high school, entered the physics department of Kazakh State University. Kirov. He studied at the Lenin scholarship, was actively involved in science, sports and music.
In 1967 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Physics of Kazakh State University named after S. M. Kirov , majoring in theoretical physics, in 1970 graduate school at the Physicotechnical Institute named after A.F. Ioffe, Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Russian Academy of Sciences) in St. Petersburg.
Labor
From 1970 to 1998, he worked at KazGU named after S.M. Kirova at the Faculty of Physics - assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, head of the department of theoretical physics, dean of the faculty, director of the research institute of experimental and theoretical physics.
From March 1998 to July 2001 - Rector of the Zhetysu State University named after Ilyas Zhansugurov
From July 2001 to April 2008 - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Scientific, literary works
Tolegen Abdisagievich Kozhamkulov is an outstanding theoretical physicist, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology named after al-Farabi in 2015, the largest specialist in the field of quantum field theory. He developed a new scientific direction: stochastic quantization of gauge fields.
In 1986, T.A. Kozhamkulov was the first in the USSR to defend his doctoral dissertation on lattice gauge theories on the topic: “Stochastic quantization of gauge fields on a lattice” at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (Kiev).
He has published about 300 scientific papers in international and republican peer-reviewed specialized publications in such areas of physics as quantum chromodynamics, the theory of nuclei and elementary particles, and the theory of relativity and gravity. He is the author of three monographs, including the first in the newest direction of science "Stochastic quantization in field theory", which has received wide recognition by the world scientific community. Created by academician T.A. Kozhamkulov scientific school has received wide international recognition.
His students and followers actively and fruitfully work in research centers in Russia, the USA, Austria, France, Israel, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and other foreign countries.
The first scientific works of T.A. Kozhamkulov published in his student years on the relativistic theory of gravity. At the age of 21, he became a graduate student of the legendary Leningrad Physicotechnical Institute named after A.F. Ioffe of the USSR Academy of Sciences without undergoing a traditional preliminary two-year scientific internship. This is an unprecedented case in the history of physical education. He is the first and only Kazakhstani to fully master the famous nine-volume course of theoretical physics L.D. Landau and E.M. Lifshits. The candidate dissertation is written on the theory of the atomic nucleus.
In revealing his natural talents, the LNPP annual schools played an invaluable role. B.P. Konstantinov Academy of Sciences of the USSR and theoretical seminars of academician A.B. Migdala, his teacher, associate of the Nobel Prize laureate L.D. Landau. T.A. Kozhamkulov is the only compatriot adopted by the elite scientific community of theoretical physicists at the ITF named after L.D. Landau, USSR Academy of Sciences.
He is the creator and first director of the Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics at KazNU. al-Farabi, who became the first research institute at a university in Kazakhstan.
T.A. Kozhamkulov is one of the initiators of the creation of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan branch of the IAS Higher School of Economics), whose main goal is to promote the development of science in higher education and maximize the use of its achievements to increase the welfare and spiritual potential of society.
He published in the domestic and foreign press about 200 works, including three monographs. He is a regular participant in major international conferences and symposia held in countries such as the UK, Germany, Japan, the USA, China, Switzerland, Russia, etc.
Academic title
In 1973 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, in 1986 - his doctoral thesis on “Stochastic quantization of gauge fields on a lattice. Theory and numerical experiment ”at the Special Council of the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kiev).
In 1989, T.A. Kozhamkulov was awarded the academic title of professor.
In 1994 he was elected an academician of the International Academy of Higher Education Sciences.
In 1998, he was elected a full member - academician of the International Academy of Creativity (Paris, France).
In 2004, he was elected an academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2004 - honorary, and in 2008 - full member (academician) of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
