A similar hornet (or Japanese yellow hornet) Vespa simillima (lat.) Is one of the most common and numerous hornets in the south of the Russian Far East. Very similar to the common hornet ( Vespa crabro ), but the punctation of the clypeus in the yellow is very small.

DistributionIt lives in Korea , Northeast China and Japan . It is found in Russia in the Amur Region , Jewish Autonomous Okrug , in the south of the Khabarovsk Territory to the mouth of the Amur River , in the Primorsky Territory , in the south of Sakhalin Island , as well as in the south of the Kuril Islands ( Kunashir Island ) [1] . There are known flies to the south of Kamchatka .
BiologyThe way of life, as well as in appearance, is very similar to the ordinary hornet ( Vespa crabro ). Builds nests in old stumps and rotting trunks.
