Boon Isaacs, Cheryl

Cheryl Boone Isaacs ( Cheryl Boone Isaacs ; 1949 , Springfield , Massachusetts , USA [1] ) is the American director of cinema marketing and public relations . She represented the Public Relations Department of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), known for its annual Academy Award; as of 2013, has been on the Board of Governors of AMPAS for 21 years. On July 30, 2013, she was elected 35th president of AMPAS and on August 11, 2015, she was re-elected for a second term, which ended in 2017 [2] . Boon Isaacs became the first African American to take up this post, and the third woman (after Bette Davis and Fay Canin ) [3] [4] .

Biography

Cheryl Boone Isaacs was born in 1949 in Springfield ( Massachusetts , USA ) in the family of postman Ashley Boone Sr. and a housewife [5] [6] . Her family was middle class [7] , and she grew up close to Springfield College until her family moved to the Sixteen Acres area of ​​Springfield [8] . She is the youngest of four children, has two older brothers and an older sister [9] .

In 1967, Boone Isaacs graduated from Springfield Central High School, known at the time as Classical High School [10] . In 1971, she graduated from Whittier College with a degree in political science [11] . While studying at college, she also studied under the student exchange program abroad, as part of which she got to Copenhagen , Denmark [12] .

Boon Isaacs is married to Stanley Isaacs, who is of Anglo-Jewish descent, have a son Cooper (born 1994/1995). They live and work in the Greater Los Angeles area [13] [14] [12] .
