Blanche Meyers Lambert Lincoln ( born Blanche Meyers Lambert Lincoln ; born September 30, 1960 , Helena , Arkansas , USA ) is an American politician, member of the US House of Representatives (1993-1997), Senator from Arkansas (1999-2011). Sister Director Mary Lambert [1] . He is the author of the book Nine and More (2000), about women in the US Senate . At the time of writing, the Senate had nine women, but when it was published in 2001, the number increased to thirteen [2] .

Biography
The early years
Blanche Lambert was born into a family of farmers: her parents were engaged in the cultivation of rice, wheat and cotton [2] .
After graduating from high school in 1978, she studied for a short time at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (Washington County). There, she was a member of the university female fraternity Chi Omega . She later moved to Randolph Macon College for Women in Lynchburg , Virginia . In 1982, Blanche received a bachelor's degree in biology [2] .
Political career
In 1982 she moved to Washington , where for two years she worked as assistant congressman Bill Alexander. In 1992, Lambert returned to Arkansas and defeated the same Bill Alexander in the primaries to the House of Representatives from the Democratic Party. In the fall election in the 1st District of Blanche, she collected 70% of the vote, after which she became congresswoman. In 1993, she married Dr. Steve Lincoln.
Having worked in Congress for two terms, she decided not to run for a third [3] .
Blanche returned to politics in 1998 when Arkansas Democratic Senator Dale Bumpers , a close friend of Bill Clinton , decided to end his political career. On January 3, 1999, at the age of 38, Lincoln took office as a senator from Arkansas. [4] Blanche paid attention to issues related to working families, veterans, villagers. In November 2009, she voted against the transfer of prisoners from Guantanamo to the United States [5] .
In 2010, she lost the US Senate election, losing to John Busman [2] .
