Geographical position
The city is located in the southwestern part of the province, on the right bank of the Botrifir River, approximately 47 kilometers (in a straight line) southeast of Cape Town , the provincial capital. The absolute height is 112 meters above sea level [2] .
Climate
The climate is characterized as warm Mediterranean ( Csb in the Köppen climate classification ). The average annual temperature is 16.3 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest month (July) is 11.7 ° С, the hottest month (January) is 20.4 ° С. The estimated long-term rainfall rate is 641 mm [3] .
Population
According to the official census of 2011, the population of Botrifir was 5505 people, of which men accounted for 50.19%, women - 49.81%, respectively. In racial terms, color made up 68.83% of the city’s population, blacks - 22.02%, whites - 7.39%, Asians (including Indians ) - 0.45%, representatives of other races - 1.49%. The most common languages among residents were: Afrikaans (75.74%), braid (14.94%), English (5.16%) and Sesotho (1.29%) [4] .
Transport
The national highway N2, as well as the regional highway R43, pass through the city. There is a train station. The nearest airport is Hermanus [2] .
