Biography
Born on March 1 ( 13 ), 1864 , in the village of Sazhinsky, Sazhinsky volost, Kungursky district, Perm province , now with. Sazhino is a member of the Dubovskoye rural settlement of the Berezovsky district of the Perm Territory . His father is a priest of the Archangel Michael Church in the village of Sazhinsky, Makariy Ilyich Arkhangelsky, his mother is Maria Kirillovna. The family had sons Michael and Nikolai, who later also became priests [3] [4] [5] .
He entered the Perm Theological Seminary , but due to health reasons he was forced to interrupt his studies at the 3rd course. During his studies at the seminary, Alexei Arkhangelsky was also engaged in teaching and received a certificate from the pedagogical council of the Perm gymnasium as a teacher in a rural parish school.
On December 23, 1884 ( January 4, 1885 ), he was appointed psalm-reader to the Vvedensky church of the village of Kamgort in the Vil'gorot parish of the Cherdyn district of the Perm province.
On December 5 ( 17 ), 1885 , he was translated by the psalm reader to the Archangel Michael Church in his native village, Sazhinsky.
On August 29 ( September 10 ), 1887 , His Grace Cyril (Orlov) , Bishop of Cheboksary, temporarily governed the Perm Diocese, was ordained.
On December 12 ( 24 ), 1887 , he was transferred to the Holy Trinity Church of the Verkhnetechensky Holy Trinity Women's Monastery in the Shadrinsk district of the Perm province, psalmist.
On September 8 ( 20 ), 1888 , he was ordained deacon to the monastic church, and on October 17 ( 29 ), 1888 , he was appointed a teacher in the parish school at the Verkhtechensky nunnery. In 1891 he was appointed full-time deacon to the Trinity Church of the same monastery.
On December 18 ( 30 ), 1893 , he was ordained a priest by the Bishop of Yekaterinburg and Irbit Athanasius (Parkhomovich) of the Pokrovskaya Church in the village of Koledinsky (Peschano-Coledino), Uksyansk Volost, Shadrinsky Uyezd, and approved by the legislator of the Peschano-Koledinsky Public School.
After the establishment of Soviet power in the village of Verkhtechenskoye, the Petrograd squad of the Merciless was located, consisting of one hundred people. The detachment was anarchist and acted independently. In addition to the anarchists, in the village there was a red partisan detachment consisting of two companies. Among the Red Army men, drunkenness, robbery, humiliation of the local population and requisition in their favor were common. Local residents were unhappy with their behavior. In order to restore the revolutionary order and discipline, the Commissioner of the North-Ural-Siberian Front, I.E. Georgenberger with a detachment (150 Red Army soldiers, 12 machine guns and 1 artillery gun). On his orders, the Reds carried out arrests and executions [6] .
On June 26, 1918, the Reds arrested Father Alexy and brought him to the village of Verkhtechenskoye, Verkhtechenskoye Volost, Shadrinsk District, Perm Province, now the village of Verkhnyaya Techa , the administrative center of the Verkhnetechenskiy Village Council of the Kataysky District of the Kurgan Region . After a brief interrogation, the priest was taken to the bank of the River Techa and shot. Details of the execution of Fr. Alexia was written in Izvestia of the Yekaterinburg Church (1918, N 15). Before his death, Father Alexy crossed himself and with the words: “I die innocently” - fell, struck down by bullets. The Red Guards, having thrown the killed man into a wagon, took him to the village of Peschano-Koledinskoe, where he was buried by the parishioners at the parish cemetery.
On August 15, 1918, the ashes of Fr. Alexia in a mass grave in the square near the church in with. Peschano-Koledino , now the administrative center of the Peschano-Koledinsky Village Council of the Dalmatovsky District of the Kurgan Region . 9 local residents were buried in the mass grave, who were killed by the Reds, having previously exhausted them to the point that their relatives had to recognize their people only by their clothes. Their faces were turned into pieces of meat, their hands were dislocated, their beards were torn out.
It was canonized by the definition of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of July 17, 2002.
Family
February 22 ( March 5 ), 1888 , in the Kozdemodianovsky Church, p. Kliuchevskogo married Anna Fedorova Efimovna (1865–?), Whose mother came from a family of priests Lyapustin. The guarantor of the groom was his brother Michael, a priest of the Verkhtechensky Holy Trinity nunnery.
