History
In 770, the first church was built on the territory of the current city. Otmarsum received the status of the city in 1325.
In the XVI century, during the War of Independence of the Netherlands, the city was occupied by the Spaniards, but in 1597 it was recaptured by the Prince of Orange.
Until 2001, Otmarsum was an independent municipality, then it was included in the Dinkelland community.
