Biography
The son of a famous lawyer. He studied law, then theology at Rennes and the Paris Lyceum of Louis the Great .
Frail from childhood, suffered from diseases of the spine and bones. This reason probably colored his original prose with an imprint of melancholy.
His views were formed under the influence of E. Renan , J. B. Lacorder , L. Viello and J. A. Barbe d'Oreville , for their lack of canonical character was excommunicated.
In 1859 he founded the newspaper Le Croisé (“Crusader”). He was published in newspapers and magazines throughout France, as well as in Belgium.
The author of books and articles on philosophy, theology and literature, he is known for a series of philosophical and critical essays , studies of the works of Shakespeare , Hugo and others
