Metabolites (from the Greek. Μεταβολίτης , metabolítes ) are products of the metabolism of any compounds.
Metabolites are primary, secondary, intermediate (subject to further biotransformations) and final, not subject to further biotransformation and excreted from the body with urine , feces , then , exhaled air, etc.
Primary metabolites
Primary metabolites are molecules that are present in all the cells of the body and are necessary for vital activity. They are divided into four categories:
- Carbohydrates
- Squirrels
- Lipids
- Nucleic acids
Example: glucose is the primary metabolite, the main and most universal source of energy in humans and animals .
Secondary metabolites
Secondary metabolites are molecules that are not found in all cells and not in all types of living organisms.
