Lyubov Viktorovna Kurkina (born February 17, 1937, Moscow) is a Russian etymologist and lexicographer. Doctor of Philology, chief researcher at the Institute of Russian Language V.V. Vinogradova , member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2015) [1] .

She graduated from the philological faculty of Moscow State University (1959), from 1960 to 1963 she studied there in graduate school. Since 1965, and still works in the department of etymology and onomastics of the Institute of Russian Language. VV Vinogradov RAS [2] , is a member of the Institute Academic Council [3] . Member of the dissertation councils of the same institute (D 002.008.01) and the philological faculty of Moscow State University (D 501.001.19). In 1966 she defended her thesis under the supervision of Professor P. S. Kuznetsov , and in 1987 she defended her doctoral dissertation "The dialect structure of the Proto-Slavic language according to the data of South Slavic vocabulary" [4] .
