Composition
The composition of the commune includes the following settlements:
- Berghin
- Girbom (Ghirbom)
- Henig
- Sentinel (Straja)
Population
According to the 2011 census, 1,893 people lived in the commune, 89.75% of whom were Romanians, 4.27% were Roma and 1.26% were Germans.
History
These places are mentioned in the document of 1332 as Sacerdos de Bumi . In 1850 they were written as Bergyin . In the past, a large number of Germans lived here.
In the village of Girbom (document 1309 referred to as Pirum ), many archaeological artifacts dating back to prehistoric times were discovered.
