Zayachye is a village in the Korochansky district of the Belgorod region of Russia, the administrative center and the only settlement of the Zayachensky rural settlement .

Geography

The village of Zayachye is located in the middle of the Belgorod Region, on the right bank of the Korenya River, 12.9 km in a straight line south-west of the district center, the city of Korochi , 26.2 km in a straight line to the northeast of the north-eastern outskirts of Belgorod . The nearest settlements: Khryashchevo village, 0.4 km to the south-west, Zamost village, 1.14 km, Mazikino 1.4 km to the east, Peschanoe farm 2 km to the south-east.

History

Name Origin

The well-known local historian V. A. Prokhorov reports: Hare is mentioned in one of the documents dating back to 1667, which contains a description that it was on a “rabbit stitch” (that is, a stitch, path) [2] .

Historical Review

The village is mentioned in the scribe book of the Belgorod district in 1626. In the XVII century it belonged to the Palace volost of the Belgorod district .

According to the census of 1885, the Novo-Slobodsky volost of the Korochansky district, the village of Zayachye is 415 yards. Fifteen yards (32 men and thirty women) - without land allotment. The villagers have 632 working horses with 189 foals, 577 cows with 351 calves, 1808 sheep and 457 pigs. In the village there are fifteen “industrial establishments” and two shops.

In 1932, the village of Zayachye - the center of the Zayachensky village council (except for Zayachy, two more farms: Golyshovka and Sviridov) in the Korochansky district. Zayachye maintained this “status” until the 1990s, then merging with the Alekseevsky Village Council of the same Korochansky District, Belgorod Region.

In the XIX century, Zayachye was famous for the production of cart wheels [2] .

In 1885, 2642 residents (1360 males and 1282 females) were enumerated in Zayachy. In 1890 - 2867 inhabitants (1451 males and 1416 females).

In 1932, in the village of Zayachy, there were 3264 inhabitants. In 1979, there were 1,073 inhabitants in Zayachy, in 1989 - 701 (253 men and 448 women). In 1997 - 374 households, 815 residents [2] .
