Career

Club

Jack Hobbs began his career at age ten. At first he played for the amateur Multon Harrocks, and a couple of years later he moved to Lincoln City . At the age of 16, he first entered the field as part of the first team. It was a Second League match in which Lincoln City met with Bristol Rovers . Hobbs appeared on the field for only three minutes. The match ended in a draw 1: 1.

On August 2, 2005, after watching Liverpool , Hobbs signed a contract with the Merseysiders . Part of the Hobbs transition deal was Liverpool’s commitment to play a friendly match with Lincoln. The game took place on August 16, becoming the first meeting of these teams at the Sinsil Bank from the 1960-1961 season. In the Liverpool reserve team, Hobbs made his debut at the age of 17 years of the 2005-2006 season and became its captain after David Raven was hired by the Tranmere Rovers .

In his debut season, Hobbs played an important role in the success of the youth team in the Youth Cup of England . In the summer of 2006, Hobbs took to the field several times as part of the first Liverpool team in friendly matches. In the match against the Kaiserslautern , he made three resultant mistakes, due to which the Reds lost with the score 2: 3. However, in the next match, in which Liverpool lost to Swiss Grasshopper 0-2, Hobbs was one of the few Merseyside club players to play normally.

On April 28, 2007, Hobbs' name first appeared in an application for the Liverpool Premier League match (playing against Portsmouth at Fratton Park ), but Jack's debut in the first team did not take place and was postponed until next season . On December 2, at the 51st minute of a home match against Bolton , with a score of 2: 0, Hobbs replaced the injured Jamie Carragher . In the remaining time, Liverpool scored two more goals, while still not conceiving a goal, so Jack's debut can be called successful. For the first time in the starting lineup in the Premier League match, Hobbs appeared on December 8, 2007 - Liverpool away lost to Reading 1: 3, not least because of a number of serious errors of the referee. In this fight, Jack had some good chances to score, but he failed to distinguish himself for his team.

In January 2008, Liverpool purchased Martin Skrtel , the central defender, from Zenit St. Petersburg , and in order to get practice playing for the first team, Hobbs decided to go on loan to Scunthorpe United , which signed the player until the end of the 2007/08 season . On July 25, 2008, Hobbs went on lease to Leicester City for a period of one season [1] . This decision of the player was dictated by the fact that on the eve of the 2008/09 season , Liverpool turned out to be well-equipped with central defenders.

Ultimately, in the spring of 2009, Hobbs decided to move to Leicester City, whom he helped return to the Championship on an ongoing basis [2] .

Team

At the end of the 2006/07 season, Hobbs entered the field three times as part of the England national team for players under the age of 19.

Achievements

  • Youth Cup : 2006
