George Klein ( George (Georg) Klein ; July 28, 1925, Budapest - December 10, 2016, Stockholm) - Hungarian-Swedish scientist, a specialist in the field of tumor biology and immunology. Emeritus is a professor at the Karolinska Institute , a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, a foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences (1973) [2] and the American Philosophical Society (1979), an honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1983). He worked with his wife Eva Klein , also a famous scientist.

Biography
He was born in a Hungarian-Jewish family in Budapest, where he spent most of his childhood. In 1944 he fled from the Holocaust. In 1945 and 1946 he worked at the University of Budapest. In 1947 he settled in Sweden, where he received degrees in medicine and a Ph.D., and entered the same 1947 as a research fello at the Karolinska Institute, becoming his professor since 1957. Since 1993, retired, although until the end of his life he continued to lead research there. From 1957 to 1993, a member of the . Many years editor of Advances in Cancer Research . Four times appeared on the cover of . Author of a number of books, in particular The Atheist and the Holy City (1990), Pîetà (1992), Live Now (1997). His most recent book, Resistance (2015), was awarded the Gerard Bonnier prize in the same year.
Member of the European Academy (1989), an honorary foreign member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Honorary Member of the and the French Society of Immunology. A member of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) since 1961, an honorary member since 1988, and a fello of her academy since 2013.
