Bulgakov, Grigory Alexandrovich

Born January 23, 1916, in a. Golazhe Bryansk region in the family of a priest. In 1924, his family moved to Rylsk Kursk region . In 1933 he leaves home, works as a laborer at a bakery in Stavropol , at a construction site in Pyatigorsk . Then in 1934 he moved to Leningrad . There, as part of the restoration team, he is engaged in restoring murals in the premises of the State Hermitage Museum . In 1935 he began to attend an art studio at the House of Culture at the Narva Gate. In 1937, Bulgakov entered the Leningrad Art and Pedagogical School, which could not be completed because of the conscription in 1940 of the Soviet Army. During the Great Patriotic War from 1941 to 1945, he served as part of the units of the 1st Ukrainian, then the 4th Ukrainian Front of the 60th Army. He was a calculator of the 574th rifle regiment. From March to August 1943 he served in intelligence. In the same year he was appointed artist of the military newspaper "Army truth". Victory Grigory Bulgakov met near Prague . After the end of the war in 1945, Bulgakov arrived in Krasnodar as part of the editorial office of the newspaper “Army Pravda” at the political department of the 60th Army. Since 1947 - member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1957 he was awarded the Diploma of the II degree of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR for the painting “Russian Columbus”. G. The artist traveled extensively in the country and was actively engaged in creative work, created a series of paintings and graphic works, and regularly participated in exhibitions. He died on April 12, 2011 in Krasnodar.

The creative way of the artist has more than sixty years. The works of Gregory Bulgakov unite various stylistic trends, starting with the realism of the Wanderers, Russian impressionism, close to him and the laconism of austere style, and the inner freedom of abstractionism. The range of his work is wide and varied - painting, drawing, design of books and interiors, collages, rare experiences in sculpture. In 1950 - 1980, the artist made numerous creative trips around the country, writing thematic canvases. Creates pictorial and graphic cycles: “Memories or Native Land” (in the chart - “Native Lands”). The Northern Cycle, a series of works devoted to Sheskharis, Azovstal, the Caucasus, the Crimea, the Transcaucasus, the Baltic States, and the North of Russia. The works of Gregory Bulgakov are stored in the collections of the Krasnodar Regional Art Museum named after F. A. Kovalenko , the Krasnodar Regional Exhibition Hall of Fine Arts, the Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve named after them. E.D. Felitsina, Kostroma State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, in private collections in Russia and abroad.

From 1946 to 2011, the artist participated in 62 exhibitions of regional, republican, all-Union, international importance. In 1966, 1968, 1994, 1996, 2006, 2011 - personal exhibitions, the exhibition of 2014 was held in memory of the artist.

Since 1950, Grigory Bulgakov was engaged in active social activities: he was elected a deputy to the Krasnodar Council of Workers' Deputies of the 1st and 3rd convocations, was a member of the Regional Peace Committee, a member of the board of the Krasnodar Union of Artists of the RSFSR , a member of the regional exhibiton, a member of the board and workshop chairman, and a chairman Council of the Krasnodar Branch of the Art Fund, was elected a member of the board of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR, was a delegate to the congresses of the Union of Artists R SDF (1960) and the Soviet Union.

Grigory Bulgakov buried in the Alley of Heroes Slavic cemetery of Krasnodar. In 2014, in the city of Krasnodar, on the house where G.A. Bulgakov lived. from 1981 to 2011 installed his memorial plaque. Currently, the work of Bulgakov G.A. participate in exhibitions.
