The climate is temperate continental. The average temperature in July is 17 ° C, in January - −8 ° C. The average annual rainfall is 600-700 mm.
The Luga River flows through the settlement.
Soils are medium podzolic and slightly podzolic.
Forests are root, pine. The forest cover is average.
History
The Luga urban settlement was established on January 1, 2006 in accordance with the regional law of the Leningrad Region No. 65-oz dated September 28, 2004 “On the establishment of borders and the appropriate status of the municipality of the Luga municipal district and its municipalities” [1] .
The settlement included the city of Luga , from the Zaklinsky volost, the cordon Glubokiy Ruchey and the village of the Zhemchuzhina Sanatorium , from the Mezhozernoy volost the village of Zelyony Bor Pension and the village of Stoyanovschina .

Power
Representative power in the settlement is exercised by the Council of Deputies, consisting of 20 deputies elected by the residents of the settlement in single-mandate constituencies. The Council of Deputies of the district is headed by the head of the settlement, chosen by the Council from among its ranks. Since January 1, 2010, the head of the settlement is Sergey Edvardovich Samorodov.
Executive power in the settlement is carried out by the administration. The head of administration is appointed by the Council of Deputies from among the candidates selected by a special competitive commission, whose members are appointed by the Council of Deputies of the settlement and the governor of the Leningrad Region. Since January 1, 2006, the head of the settlement administration is Vladimir V. Bakunev. He has 2 deputies.
