The black-yellow silktail [1] ( Latin Phainoptila melanoxantha ) is a species of passerine bird from the family of silky waxwings (Ptiliogonatidae), the only one of the same genus [1] ( Phainoptila ) [2] .

Description
A small bird. Males have black back, head and tail. It is believed that he does not sing.
Usually moves alone or in pairs. It feeds exclusively on berries, and even feeds chicks with this food. Insects in the stomachs are extremely rare. Lays 2 eggs.
It lives in Costa Rica and Panama . It occurs from a height of 1000 m to the border of the forest . IUCN has assigned the species a Least Concern (LC) conservation status [3] .
