Peel, Titian

Titian Ramsey Peel

Titian Peale ( Titian Peale ; 1799-1885) [1] - American artist, naturalist and researcher. Known for beautiful and accurate scientific sketches of wildlife. In 1819, accompanied S.H. Long, exploring the Rocky Mountains. He participated in the American Research Expedition 1838-1842 . Described a number of taxa of wildlife, several were named in his honor. Alexander Wetmore named in honor of Peel one of the islands of the Wake Atoll lagoon. There is also a Peale Passage .
