Biography

In the Red Army since 1920, he rose to the rank of commander of the sapper department at the headquarters of the engineering troops. In 1941-1944 he fought on different fronts, including on the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts . A participant in the Battle of Stalingrad , awarded various awards [2] . During the battle of Stalingrad, he held the post of chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the 12th engineer-combat brigade [3] . From May to September 1944, he was the commander of the 51st engineering and combat engineer brigade [4] .

In the fall of 1944 he was sent to the Polish Army , with the rank of colonel, he commanded the 2nd Warsaw Engineering and Sapper Brigade , a participant in the battles for Warsaw and the head of the city’s mine clearance operation (in addition to the Soviet units, the 2nd, 4th and 5th engineer and combat engineer brigades of the Polish People’s Army participated in mine clearance). He was awarded the Order of the Cross of Grunwald of the III degree for the assistance in mine clearing of the city by order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, General Michal Rohl-Zhimersky [2] .

After the war, he was engaged in mine clearing of a number of areas (Varets-Magnushev, Pulava, Sandomierz) and central Poland from the Vistula to Oder, as well as Wroclaw. In 1946 he returned to the Red Army.
