Economics
The main branch of the economy is agriculture . Until 2005, a factory for the production of automotive spark plugs operated, the products of which were widely consumed both in Russia and abroad. The Ozyorsk hydroelectric power station is operating on the Angrap River , created in 1880 and reconstructed in 2000 .
Industry
The largest manufacturers of industrial products in the territory of the municipality
- Ozersky Bread LLC - bakery products
- LLC "Ozersky universal" - confectionery.
In addition, small enterprises operate
- Estetikatsentr LLC, IP Brazauskane - furniture production;
- LLC "Modular Baltic Systems" - for the production of metal products;
- TekhKarton LLC - production of cardboard sleeves;
- IP Viktorov - woodworking.
Agriculture
The main areas of agriculture are grain growing and animal husbandry (cattle, pig breeding).
Agricultural production until 2012 was constantly declining. The number of livestock was reduced, the sown area for grain was reduced. Only the cultivated area for rapeseed increased slightly.
In 2012, three large holding companies began operating on the territory of the okrug - LLC private horse farm Vedern, LLC Kaliningradskaya Meat Company, LLC BaltAgroKorm. Thanks to their investments, the acreage under grain and fodder crops began to grow steadily.
The basis of agriculture in the district is 7 organizations of various forms of ownership, 10 peasant farms and individual entrepreneurs. More than 600 people are employed in agricultural production, which makes up 6.5% of the working-age population living in rural areas.
In addition, there are about 3.5 thousand personal subsidiary plots. The share of private household plots in the total agricultural production of the okrug is very high (over 40%). In the production of potatoes it is 80%, in the production of vegetables, poultry and eggs - 99%.
The main problems of agriculture in the Ozyorsk okrug are the low level of labor productivity, the lack of advanced and intensive technologies. Agricultural machinery - old, livestock buildings require reconstruction and modernization.
Construction
The total area of residential premises, falling on average per person, in 2014 amounted to 23.1 sq.m., including the commissioned in 2014 - 0.03 sq.m.
New construction in recent years is carried out only by individual developers. Social housing was not commissioned in 2014. The share of those who received housing in the total population registered as needing housing in 2014 is 0%.
The income level of the population and the budget of the municipality do not allow the construction of new residential and industrial facilities.
Attractions
In the Ozersky district in 1880, a hydroelectric power station was built, thanks to which the first electric street lighting in East Prussia appeared in the city. In 2000, the hydroelectric power station was restored, and on September 9, 2006, a monument to the first lamp was installed in the city center.
In 2008, a ski slope was built using artificial snow near the village of Novo-Guryevskoye [19] .
