Career
Ed Mahone made his debut in the professional ring on April 15, 1996, ending a draw match with his compatriot Joseph Farrell. On February 23, 1998, he defeated the previously undefeated Cody Koch and won his first title in a professional career - the NABO WBO heavyweight champion . Held 5 successful title defenses [1] .
On October 9, 1999, a duel took place between two undefeated boxers - Ed Mauhon (21-0-2, 21 KO) and Ukrainian champion Vitaliy Klitschko (25-0, 25 KO) for the WBO heavyweight world title. The fight ended with the victory of the Ukrainian by technical knockout in the 3rd round [1] . According to sports journalist Alexander Belenky , this fight broke the entire future boxing career of Mahoun [2] .
On October 6, 2000, Mahone suffered a second defeat in his career, losing on points to his compatriot David Bostis . On December 10, 2005, he lost to British athlete Henry Akinwande in a duel for the vacant IBF heavyweight intercontinental champion title. On June 2, 2006, he lost by technical knockout to the undefeated American Eddie Chambers (25-0), on September 23 of the same year, he suffered another technical knockout in a duel with the undefeated Russian Alexander Povetkin (9-0). March 20, 2010 spent his last fight in his professional career, losing by technical knockout to Russian boxer Alenksandr Ustinov [1] .
