Biography
Son of Hugo I de Vodemont and Ezhelina (Alina) of Burgundy. In 1155 he succeeded his father.
The lifetime documents in which Gerard II is mentioned are mainly charters of the Lorraine abbeys, in which he acts as a witness. There is no historical information about his rule.
Family
Between 1157 and 1161, Gerard II married Gertrude de Joinville, daughter of Geoffroy III, Señora de Joinville, and Felicite de Brienne. Children:
- Gedwig, wife of either III Seignor de Bofremont
- Hugo II (died not earlier than 1235), Count of Vodemont
- Geoffroy, lord de Doyley, is mentioned in 1189 and 1239.
- Gerard, Bishop of Tulya, 1218–1219.
- Olri (Ulrich), mention in 1215.
Widowed, Gerard II, not earlier than 1182 and no later than 1187, married Ombelin de Vandevr (died after 1205), the widow of Barthelemy II de Nogent, daughter of Hilduin de Vandevr. Perhaps the aforementioned Olry (Ulrich) was the son of her.
