48th Long Range Aviation Division

The 48th Long-Range Riga Aviation Division ( 48th Hell DD ) is an aviation unit of the Air Force of the Red Army long-range bomber aviation, which took part in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War .

Division History and Combat Path

The division was formed on the basis of parts of the 36th Long-Range Aviation Division and the 455th Long-Range Aviation Regiment on April 30, 1943. He made his way as part of the 8th Aviation Corps of Long-Range Aviation , participating in combat operations of Long-Range Aviation. For the courage and heroism of the personnel, the division and its units were awarded orders, they were given honorary titles, and the 455th long-range aviation regiment was awarded the title of Guards.

In connection with the emergence of new tasks and with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of striking at the enemy in the final period, the division was withdrawn from Long-Range Aviation in December 1944, becoming part of the 1st Guards Bomber Aviation Corps . The division was renamed the 48th Riga Bomber Aviation Division.
