Biography
In 1966, while still studying medicine, after three years of dating, he secretly married the actress and director Sente Berger , who was then taking her first steps in Hollywood [5] .
In 1967, he directed his first film, Pariah, as a director, and began producing with his wife. Having gained a reputation as a significant figure in German political cinema, Michael Ferheuven is best known for his 1982 film White Rose, which tells about the student underground during the time of Nazism. The film "Mean Girl" (1990), nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film , tells the story of a young girl investigating events in her hometown of the Third Reich . Condemning the Vietnam War, the 1970 film “Okay” participated in the 20th Berlin International Film Festival , but the scandal surrounding it forced the jury to stop working without awarding prizes [6] .
In 1990, at the 40th Berlin Film Festival, Michael Ferhoeven's “Mean Girl” film won the Silver Bear Award for Best Director [7] , and in 1992 won the BAFTA Award for Best Non-English Film.
